It is the name given to essential oils extracted by distilling the leaves of the bitter orange tree, lemon tree, and mandarin tree. Each of these trees yields three essential oils, depending on whether the distillation is from the leaves (which is Petitgrain), from the flower (which is Neroli), or from the zest (which is the fruit). Petitgrain is used in quality colognes.
